Aim was to enable all sections of Hindus to enter
temples.
Sathyagraha was started on 1. November 1931.
September 25 was earlier observed as Temple Entry
Day in Malabar.
K. Kelappan & A.K. Gopalan were famous leaders.
By 1928 approach roads to all temples were thrown
open to all Hindus irrespective of caste, in the whole
of Travancore.
Temple Entry Proclamation was issued on November
12, 1936 by Sri Chitira Tirunal Balarama Varma.
Gandhiji hailed it as “a miracle of modern times”
and “a smriti which is the people’s charter of spiritual
emancipation”.
